Active Lime (CaO)

Active Lime or Quicklime (chemical formula: CaO) is a chemical compound derived from heating limestone (calcium carbonate, CaCO3) at high temperatures through a process called calcination. This process releases carbon dioxide (CO2), leaving calcium oxide.

Characteristics:

  • Appearance: White or grayish-white powder or lumps
